<p>Roshni Chadda, an aspiring singer, is the only child of Sharda Chadda. Her father, Prakash Chadda, left before she was born under unclear circumstances, and she grows up unaware of his whereabouts. When her mother is diagnosed with a , she sends Roshni to with a family friend, hoping she will become independent. In Mumbai, Roshni meets Rahul Malhotra, who is impressed by her voice and helps launch her music career. As she rises to fame, they develop a romantic relationship. Meanwhile, Roshni catches the attention of Jagannath “Jaggu,” a petty thief and devoted admirer whose romantic feelings for her are not reciprocated. Before her death, Sharda confesses that Prakash had been falsely accused of a crime at the national level and had left due to pressure from Roshni’s grandmother, who refused to accept him. She urges Roshni to find her father. While on a trip to with Rahul to search for Prakash, Roshni is arrested for . Rahul vanishes without explanation. Roshni is quickly tried and sentenced to death.
